Meet Elisa Datcher,
Therapist, Resident in Counseling
Elisa Datcher is a Resident in Counseling in Virginia who is passionate about helping individuals move beyond survival and create lives rooted in healing, resilience, and purpose. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. As a U.S. Army veteran with five years of service, Elisa brings a unique perspective to her work, combining discipline, compassion, and real-world experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Elisa specializes in working with survivors of sexual trauma and is deeply committed to helping individuals reclaim their sense of safety, identity, and empowerment following traumatic experiences. She also works with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and other emotional or behavioral difficulties. In addition, she has a passion for supporting veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and women navigating significant life challenges.

A Note from Elisa
I believe that no matter what someone has experienced, their story does not have to end where the pain began. My mission is to help clients reclaim their sense of self, discover hope beyond their circumstances, and build a future that reflects who they are—not what has happened to them. As I often say, "You are allowed to let your past be your teacher—not your prison." Sessions with me are compassionate, collaborative, and empowering—creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, safely challenged, and supported as they heal, build resilience, and become the best version of themselves.
My Approach
What makes Elisa's approach unique is her belief that healing extends beyond symptom reduction. She helps clients identify unhelpful patterns, build emotional resilience, strengthen healthy relationships, and develop practical tools they can carry into everyday life. While she values clinical expertise, she also recognizes the profound impact of lived experience and approaches each person with authenticity, empathy, and deep respect for their individual journey. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and other evidence-based interventions, Elisa believes that meaningful change happens when clients feel both understood and empowered. She strives to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to recognize strengths they may have forgotten they possess.
