Meet Katie Marshall,
Licensed Master Social Worker- Supervisee
I am a social worker and therapist who believes that meaningful healing begins in a space where people feel safe, respected, and free from judgment. My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for each person’s right to self-determination. I strive to create an environment where clients can be open and honest about their experiences, knowing they will be met with understanding rather than criticism. Professionally, I bring extensive experience working with individuals, children, and families across high-acuity and complex systems of care. My background includes working with children in high-needs behavioral health settings, supporting families involved in child welfare, and advocating for youth in state custody though the court system. I have also provided crisis response services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting clients and caregivers during moments of significant distress and transition. In addition, I have experience with helping individuals and families navigate resources, access care and feel supported during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. My work has included crisis intervention, community collaboration and advocacy for human rights. I have also delivered presentations to police departments in Virginia to improve understanding and response to individuals experiencing behavioral health crisis. My professional work is also informed by lived experiences. I am a mother of five, including a son with special needs, and a military spouse who has adapted to frequent change and uncertainty. I also started a successful business that I have been able to transfer across the country. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of resilience, advocacy, and the emotional complexity that families often carry. As an entrepreneur and business owner, I also appreciate the pressures of balancing responsibility, identity, and personal well-being.

A Note from Katie
I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to be open, honest and fully themselves. My approach is collaborative and grounded in respect, compassion, and curiosity, allowing us to explore challenges at your own pace. I draw from experience working with diverse populations, experiences and life circumstances. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach, instead I will tailor our sessions to fit your unique needs and preferences. Together, we will work together on building insight, resilience, and meaningful change. In therapy, I draw from evidence-based approaches while remaining flexible and responsive to each client’s unique needs. I value cultural humility and recognize how identity, systems, and life experiences shape mental health. Whether clients are seeking support with stress, life transitions, emotional regulation, caregiving challenges, or navigating complex systems, my goal is to offer a space that feels supportive, empowering, and grounded in respect.
"Therapy isn't about giving you answers-it's about helping you trust the strength and direction that already exist within you." — Inspired by Carl Rogers
