Meet Tierra Roberts,
Licensed Professional Counselor

As a licensed mental health therapist whose clinical work focuses on substance use treatment, forensic mental health, and marriage and family counseling. I provide services to individuals, couples, and families presenting complex emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns, particularly those involving substance use disorders, legal system involvement, and high-conflict family dynamics. I approach treatment from a structured, collaborative framework that emphasizes accountability, insight, and behavior change. I have clinical experience working with clients diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. My work emphasizes assessment, relapse prevention, treatment compliance, and recovery maintenance. I assist clients in identifying maladaptive behavioral patterns, strengthening coping skills, and developing individualized strategies to support sustained recovery. As a therapist I recognize the impact of substance use on interpersonal relationships, occupational functioning, and legal outcomes, and integrate these considerations into treatment planning. In the area of forensic psychology, I work with clients involved in the criminal justice system, including those mandated to treatment or navigating probation, court orders, or legal stressors. I maintain professional boundaries and ethical clarity when working with forensic-adjacent populations, with careful attention to role delineation, documentation, and compliance requirements. I am attentive to the ways in which legal involvement, power dynamics, and external accountability influence client engagement, decision-making, and therapeutic progress. When it comes to working with families and couples, I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is best for couples experiencing conflict, emotional disconnection, trust issues, or attachment injuries. I collaboratively work with clients to identify patterns that contribute to relational distress and to develop strategies that promote healthier interaction, improved problem-solving, and relational stability. When substance use or legal involvement impacts family functioning, I incorporate these factors into treatment goals and interventions. I believe effective treatment requires both support and accountability, with interventions grounded in evidence-based practice and ethical standards. My goal is to assist clients in achieving improved psychological functioning, stability, and long-term behavioral change.
